Figure 1: Main visual — deep forest green lid-and-base rigid box with gold foil stamping
When a fragrance brand moves from a folding carton to a rigid setup box, the change is not just visual. It signals a higher price tier, a stronger unboxing ritual, and a tighter production process. This case study follows a deep forest green lid-and-base rigid perfume box through greyboard lamination, V-grooving, cover wrapping, gold foil stamping, insert fitting, and final QC at Shenzhen CKT Print Co., Ltd.
This box uses 1200gsm laminated greyboard (~1.8 mm thick) for both lid and base. The lid overlaps the base by 18 mm on each side, with a controlled gap of 0.3–0.5 mm around the perimeter. This gap prevents binding while avoiding a loose rattle.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Greyboard sheets cut on automatic die-cut press, tolerance ±0.5 mm.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->V-groove depth at 55–60% of board thickness for clean 90-degree corners.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Mitered corner wrapping: cover paper overlaps 8 mm on each side, hand-burnished after gluing.

Figure 2: Three-quarter view — thick rigid walls, lid-and-base seam, textured green wrap
The outer wrap is a 120 gsm deep forest green textured paper with a subtle linen grain. The paper is laminated to the greyboard using water-based adhesive, then die-cut to the exact cover pattern with 15 mm glue flaps.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Pantone 3435 C matched on densitometer, Delta E under 2.5.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Linen grain direction consistent across all panels for uniform light reflection.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->· <!--[endif]-->Water-based lamination avoids warping on 1.8 mm greyboard.
The brand name and product text are applied with hot gold foil stamping at 110°C and 0.4 MPa pressure. The matte green paper accepts the foil without cracking, and the warm metallic contrast reads as premium without being flashy.

Figure 3: Gold foil macro — warm metallic sheen on textured green paper
The base interior contains a custom die-cut flocked foam insert fitted for a 50–100 ml rectangular perfume bottle. The foam cavity is 0.5 mm tighter than the bottle width, holding it securely in transit without scratching the glass.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->1. <!--[endif]-->First article: lid gap, corner squareness (±0.5 mm), foil adhesion tape test.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->2. <!--[endif]-->In-process: cover wrap edge lift check every 50 boxes; color check every 200 pieces.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->3. <!--[endif]-->Final: drop test 60 cm onto concrete; AQL 2.5 for foil scratching, corner denting, insert fit.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->5. <!--[endif]-->Sampling: digital proof 3–5 days; physical rigid box sample 7–10 days.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->6. <!--[endif]-->Mass production: 15–20 business days. FOB/CIF/DDP.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->7. <!--[endif]-->Monthly ~500,000 rigid boxes. MOQ 500; die fee refunded at 5,000+.
