How Custom Perfume Packaging Boxes Are Made with Textured Paper and an Oval Bottle Insert

Custom perfume packaging boxes need a structure that supports the bottle, an opening that works consistently and a finish that can be reproduced. The ORVANE TIDAL NOTE concept combines a two-piece rigid lid-and-base box, pale sea-salt green wrapping paper, navy flat printing and an ivory paperboard insert for an oval bottle. This article explains the proposed manufacturing route from the perspective of Shenzhen CKT Print Co., Ltd. The visuals show a design concept rather than a completed factory sample. CKT supplies paper packaging; fragrance, glass bottles, caps and sprayers are excluded.

1 Greyboard and Specialty Paper

1.1 Choosing the structural board

The proposed construction uses 2 mm greyboard for two separate wrapped components: a base and a fully removable telescoping lid. The closed size is provisionally 110 x 150 x 50 mm, expressed as width x height x depth. Board thickness, cutting allowance and lid clearance must be checked together on a structural sample. This is a rigid setup box supplied assembled. It has no hinge, magnetic closure or drawer, and should not be specified as a folding carton.

1.2 Selecting the pale wrapping paper

A 135 gsm fine-grain uncoated specialty paper is the starting assumption for costing. Approve its colour, thickness and wrapping behaviour on an assembled box. The sea-salt green appearance comes from the selected paper, while the lettering is printed in navy. Pale stock can reveal adhesive marks, handling dirt and variation beneath the wrapper. Check fold lines, turned edges and the inner lining before committing to a paper order.

2 Navy Flat Printing on Textured Paper

The lid carries four original lines: ORVANE, TIDAL NOTE, for women and 50 ml. Navy artwork is printed directly on the paper. The visual specification has no metallic plate, raised badge, decorative border or foil. Maintain the same wording and layout across the approved artwork and decorated sample.

2.1 Approving ink colour and small text

A one-colour offset printing trial is the proposed starting route, subject to the selected stock. Review the navy ink after drying, using the actual paper rather than a screen colour. Check letter edges, coverage and the smallest lines at normal viewing distance. Retain the approved print sample for repeat orders. Agree a colour comparison method and acceptance limits with the factory; this concept does not establish a numerical colour tolerance.

2.2 Keeping the specification consistent

Ask quotations to identify the paper grade, print colour, artwork coverage and setup assumptions. A different paper or added finish can change appearance, cost and lead time. Review those changes as a new specification before ordering. For the ORVANE concept, navy flat print and the natural paper surface remain the agreed visual direction.

3 Preserving the Natural Paper Surface

The matte appearance is intended to come from the uncoated paper itself. No film lamination, soft-touch coating, spot UV or hot foil is specified. Confirm that the chosen paper and ink can be handled, wrapped and packed cleanly without an added surface layer. The visual texture is fine paper grain rather than a metallic repeat emboss pattern.

3.1 Checking handling and rubbing

Use a decorated sample to assess handling marks, ink transfer and rubbing under conditions agreed with the buyer. Inspect pale areas near the corners and lid edges where operators handle the box. If extra surface protection becomes necessary, approve its effect on colour and texture and revise the quotation before bulk production.

4 Forming and Wrapping the Lid and Base

4.1 Cutting and wrapping the two components

The proposed route includes board cutting, forming, separate wrapping of the lid and base, and fitting the insert. Confirm whether grooving is appropriate for the selected board and production method. Check corner folds, paper joints, adhesive coverage and turned edges on the sample. The lid face should remain flat and the walls square after drying. A clean corner needs sound paper preparation and controlled assembly.

4.2 Checking the opening fit

Test the decorated lid on the decorated base because both paper and adhesive affect the final clearance. Check for binding, uneven release and excessive movement. Open and close the sample several times and compare it with an agreed reference. Numerical tolerances must be established from the engineered design and sample; they cannot be inferred from these images.

5 Designing the Paperboard Insert for an Oval Bottle

image.png

Fig. 3 The oval-body opening and narrower cap extension in the ivory insert deck. The underside support requires physical sample validation.

The concept uses an ivory paperboard platform with an oval-body aperture and a narrow extension around the cap. Folded support underneath is intended to carry the bottle at the chosen presentation height. It is not a velvet-lined, EVA foam or plastic insert. Quote the upper deck and the supporting structure together so that competing quotations describe the same assembly.

5.1 Using the actual filled bottle

Request a physical bottle sample or a dimensioned drawing that includes its curved shoulders, flattened bottom, cap and filled weight. The displayed 50 ml bottle is provisionally about 64 x 98 x 30 mm including its cap. Verify those dimensions before tooling. Check body contact, cap clearance and label-safe removal. A visually neat cavity is insufficient if the bottle rocks, drops through or bends the platform. A revised bottle may require changes to both the insert and outer box.

6 Sampling Quality Control and Repeat Supply

6.1 Confirming MOQ and the sample schedule

Begin with a structural fit sample, followed by a decorated sample on the selected paper with the approved artwork. Check lid fit, insert support, print clarity and assembled colour. The original budget model uses 1,000 boxes as a planning quantity rather than a confirmed MOQ. Indicative planning allowances are 8 to 12 working days for sampling and 25 to 35 working days for production after approval. Material availability, tooling and order quantity affect the schedule; obtain factory confirmation before using these figures as a purchase commitment.

6.2 Agreeing production and shipment checks

Define checks for wrapped edges, square walls, adhesive cleanliness, navy print legibility, lid release and bottle retention. Agree the inspection method, defect criteria and any transit test before production. Transit evaluation needs the filled bottle, presentation box and shipping carton together. Preserve the approved artwork, paper reference and decorated sample for repeat orders, and review any material substitution. No certification, test result or inspection service is implied by this visual concept.

Request a Quote for This Rigid Perfume Box

For an OEM order, provide the bottle sample, print-ready artwork, quantity and delivery destination. For an ODM enquiry, request insert engineering and a decorated prototype around the supplied bottle. Identify the lid, base, wrapper, navy printing and paperboard insert together in the quotation. Similar materials may suit Custom Cosmetic Packaging Boxes, but each container needs its own fit study. Confirm actual costs, MOQ, sample terms and production timing before placing an order.
